The video titled "Modeling-Based (Flipped) Professional Development at Rutgers University - Dr. Lodge McCammon" demonstrated an innovative approach to professional learning that left me feeling motivated and pleasantly surprised. The video enlightened me on the fact that something as simple as walking could activate the part of the brain responsible for memory, attention, creativity, and performance. This approach not only benefits the participants of the PL class, but also our own students. The most striking aspect of the video was the active participation of PL trainees as they took on the role of students and engaged in the learning process through technology and in-person interaction. Witnessing the students' enthusiasm and motivation, which even led them to create their own videos, was amazing. This hands-on approach to teaching and learning was inspiring, as teachers were not passive listeners, but active participants in the learning process. My own PL experience was similar to what was depicted in the video - where learners were extremely active and eager to learn.
As we have discussed before, our involvement is crucial to our own learning journey. It's amazing how much we can learn when we take an active role in acquiring knowledge. Personally, I have found watching videos to be an incredibly effective way to learn and I am excited to continue to grow as an educator through this experience.
