The Head Won’t Go Where the Heart Hasn’t Been

What is Your Why?

Have you ever wondered why some people are better at making meaningful decisions than others? Well, Simon Sinek has some answers. He talks about the "Golden Circle" and how it's made up of three key parts. First, there's the WHY - basically what drives you and what you believe in. Then there's the HOW - the way you present your ideas and make them stand out. And finally, there's the WHAT - the actual actions you take to achieve your goals.

I want to mention something I learned from watching a video by Kotter called "The Heart of Change." He talks about how our emotions can have a big influence on the decisions we make, sometimes even more than logic. We all know what it's like to be swayed by our feelings, right? But of course, it's not always the best way to make choices. Still, it's something to keep in mind.

Also, In Kotter's video "Leading Change: Establish a Sense of Urgency," we are reminded of the significance of urgency. This involves identifying the issues we are confronting and acknowledging the need for change. As educators, we have a mission to accomplish, so it is crucial to be distinct about our purpose, WHY, and daily approach in the classroom. We must consider not only WHAT we teach but also HOW we teach it.

I think Sinek and Kotter have some really awesome ideas that could help us out in all sorts of areas, even education. If we follow their advice, we can figure out what we're aiming for and map out how to get there.
